After a month of absence, we return to the world of the Internet. The last weeks we had been sailing off the beaten track of French Polynesia, which meant little access to coverage and several longer sailing passages. And today we talk about these passages.
A longer sailing passage - a bit of an enigmatic term. How many days does it take to call a sailing from A to B long? For some, three / four days of sailing is already a lot, for others it will be more than a week. And there will probably also be those who think that long sailing is only a dozen or so days of ocean crossing when you lose land from the horizon for many, long days. There are people who love such a time of disconnection from civilization, but there are also those who are terrified of it.
We personally we like to hang out in the ocean. However, long passage for us is over four / five days. We need this time to get into the right rhythm. The feeling of the days of the week is slowly being lost, because passing time is measured by night watches, those in the galley, as well as sunsets and sunrises at sea. Life seems to slow down. Sometimes we fall into stagnation and the only things we can do are to read books, watch movies and sleep hard! In order to do something more constructive, we really need to mobilize ourself;) But after a week, we get used to it and start to function more normally. We finally get into the rhythm of a long sailing.
Our longest voyage was twenty-one days at sea in a row, from Mexico to Polynesia. This year we hope to go to the Aleutians and plan to sail from Polynesia for about six weeks non-stop. We ourselves wonder what it will be like not to see land for so long. One thing is certain - when we reach our destination, the joy will be GREAT.
